Beating the Walls is a musical composition for live projection, ensemble and electronics in which an animated map of Derry City walls is interpreted as a musical score. Created in memory of composer Alvin Lucier, the piece explores physical properties of sound such as resonance, propagation and beating. A drop-in workshop will be open to anyone who wishes to explore the physical properties of sound in a hands-on musical setting. All levels of musicianship welcome.
